Franklin & Glenn Lot
White County, GA

In 1909, it was reported that "some prospect work has been done here, principally on the crest of a high hill...   The exposures seen at the time of the visit were insufficient to permit satisfactory conclusions to be drawn...   The greatest drawback to future operations on the crest of the hill where the zone is exposed is the absence of water...   On the side of the hill near the exposure mentioned above, two tunnels a hundred feet or more in length have been driven into the hillside..."

There is a lower and an upper section to this mining operation.   I discovered the lower section first, using a rather unusual process, described on the "Lower Works" page.   This lot was reported as a "prospect" at the time of the report, but from the evidence of the greater operations I found here, I think it later became a full-scale mine.
