None of the old-timers in the area seem to know anything about
this mine tunnel.   From the best I can determine, it was one of the
kyanite prospects conducted by the A. C. Spark Plug Co. in 1931.

You can see that the hole is a tight squeeze, but we've been in worse!

Tunnel-adit
Once inside, the adit opened up to a standard configuration
although on the small side; I couldn't stand completely upright.

Tunnel-adit
I came to a spot where the adit intersected a quartz vein.

Tunnel-adit
I kept feeling what I thought was water dripping on me,
but it was the cave crickets jumping off the ceiling!

The total length was roughly 80-100 feet deep.

Tunnel_end_pocket
The rear wall had a small pocket begun when work ended here.
(See upper left of rear wall in previous image.)

I saw one scampering around nearby.

Sheldon
As I approached the entrance, Sheldon came down and joined me.
We switched places and I took this pic of him.

Bruce
He took one of me, also.
