Spent a great day in early April with Brian S exploring the upper headwaters and tributaries of the Tellico River. We visited historic, prehistoric, and geologic sites, waterfalls, and tons of wildflowers. This page covers a few of the wildflowers we saw, while Page 1 includes all of the non-flora subjects that we visited. |

Several of the Trillium cuneatums at this location were unusual for both their vibrant red coloring, and the fully open flowers. |

As they age, the flowers of Trillium grandiflorum turn pink. |

This Trillium (probably vaseyi) was the closest to flowering of any we saw of this species. |

I believe this may be a Trillium luteum. It had a distinctly different scent, although I don't know that I would describe it as "lemon". |
