Spent a fantastic day botanizing in a remote area of the Cherokee National Forest. I saw several new (to me) species and a lot of orchids that I don't typically get a chance to photo- graph. One highlight was seeing thousands of Platanthera integrilabia growing in a bog. |

I also saw another orchid species which I hadn't photographed before: |
Platanthera cristata (Crested Bog Orchid) Most of these, including all the large inflorescences, were well past their prime, but a few small ones were still in flower. |

I came across another species which I'd never even heard of, much less seen before: |
Bartonia virginica (Yellow Screwstem) |

Lilium michauxii (Carolina Lily) |
Platanthera clavellata (Green Wood Orchid) Most of these had gone to seed, but a very few plants were still in flower. |
Platanthera ciliaris (Yellow/Orange Fringed Orchid) Another orchid that was mostly bloomed out here. |
