Late July, 2019: |
I'd somehow missed the first small bloom of the 2019 season. (See the spent flower?) Seeing the buds rising upright, I knew we were in for a nice flowering the following day. |
Sure enough, I was greeted by dozens of gorgeous blooms the next day. |
Three Birds Orchids (Triphora trianthophora) |
I was hoping to see some deeper colored flowers like I had seen here last year. |
But the flowers were mainly white, with just some tinges of color. |
A few more examples from the one day synchronous bloom... |
Although the majority of these orchids produce their one-day bloom on the same day, there are always a few stragglers, like this flower, that don't bloom until the next day. |
I wasn't paying close attention, and between other botanical excursions, I somehow missed the season's third flowering. But I was ready when the fourth bloom occurred on Aug. 8. |
The earlier bloom has consisted primarily of white flowers. But this flowering included several with deep pink/purple tints. |
Since I showed so many examples from the earlier bloom, I am just including a few of the deeper colored flowers here... |
One more nice pair of flowers... |
August 18 - Final bloom of the season. Just a couple of pics... |
A nice trio... |
