~ If you have information about this crash, please send a Message or Email via our Guest Book (link on Home Page) ~ With leaves emerging and warm weather on the way, this was probably my last visit until next fall: |
Spring wildflowers were emerging along the cliffs that I pass on the climb up to the crash site |
Piece of unidentified component with pulleys and roller Probably from one of the control surfaces... |
Same part, from opposite side |
Broken, unknown part - top view |
Unknown part - reverse |
Round screen - two pieces stapled together |
Melted blue glass |
Unknown buckle |
I finally identified this part after finding a faint part number on the edge (below). Part number 10023-1 is not listed in the Parts Catalog, but 10021-1 (Rear RH Wing Lift Strut Fairing Assy) is, and it looks just like this. Probably a later part revision. |
Illustration from the parts catalog. I had found the fairing from the other side during an earlier exploration. |
Another mooring arrow, this one bent & broken See page 3 for details of mooring arrows. |
Rubber plug |
Rubber plug - opposite view |
Section of elevator frame It took me several years to ID this component. I was pretty sure it was part of one of the control surfaces. One day I was closely examining some of the Manual illustrations and spotted this section of the elevator! See next image. |
Maintenance Manual illustration with found section of frame outlined... |
Piece of rubber hose or cable casing |
Unknown component with small tree growing through it. |
Component after being freed from tree and roots |
Molded plastic, probably from same part as similar piece on page 3. |
Broken piece of cast metal, with integral stiffeners. |
Same part - opposite side I have no idea what this cast metal component was... |
Cable - connector |
Molten blob, about 18 inches long |
Twisted steel cable |
Unknown component with single pulley Possibly an aileron or flap control pulley similar to one in next sketch. |
Aileron Control Pulley (highlighted) from Parts Manual |
Flat pieces of plastic |
Molten component(s) |
Close-up, showing the part number which I couldn't find in the Parts Catalog... Googling that P/N, I came up with an aircraft Angle of Attack sensor, which could be coincidence. |
Dried Earthstar fungi at the site. |
