The wings of the Norseman UC-64 aircraft consisted primarily of fabric covered wood beams, with 5 major steel truss assemblies and various other metallic fittings and controls. Below are some of the trusses and other components from one wing: |

Opposite end of Wing Truss No. 1 The fittings for the wood spar attachment are similar to those used today in modern house construction (on floor joists, for example). |

Wing Spar Jury Strut Fitting Assembly It took me several years to identify this! |
|
Parts Manual illustration showing Wing Spar Fittings highlighted. While the fittings were inside the wing, they connected to the Jury Struts, which attached to the struts and stiffened them. |

Mooring arrow - See figure from Parts Catalog below These came in a clip of 18, and were used with the anchor rods and driving rod (left) to secure the aircraft. |

Unidentified rubber piece |

With these two cut-outs, you would think I could ID this panel, but I've looked over the entire aircraft and haven't located it yet. I did notice, on a sketch, a few small access holes on the belly of the plane for "fuel tank drain cock access". I couldn't see them in any photos, but I wonder if that's where this panel was located. |

Since the aircraft fuselage is on its side, I rotated this head-on image in an attempt to allow easier viewing at its "proper" orientation. |
