I hadn't visited this unique site in a couple of years. It's the only location where I've seen both varieties of Yellow Lady's Slipper growing together. They are scattered over a couple of acres; after finding over 30 flowering plants, I actually got tired of photographing them and moved on! |

On the way up, I also found some groups of Pink Lady's Slippers (Cypripedium acaule) |
There were other wildflowers to see besides the Lady's Slippers... |
Lots of Vasey's Trilliums (Trillium vaseyi) were growing along the way. |
Speckled Wood Lily (Clintonia umbellulata) |
The forest floor here was carpeted with Mayapples (Podophyllum peltatum). |
A few Showy Orchis (Galearis spectabilis) were still hanging on. |
Back to a few more Yellow Lady's Slippers: |

I thought this hollowed-out old log was interesting. |

Wild hogs continue to rip up huge areas of the forest floor. They have destroyed countless acres of rare plants, and in my opinion, should be the US Forest Service's #1 priority. |
