After visiting a couple of Native American petroglyph sites on my way home from Cobb County, my route took me close to Dahlonega.   I knew about a number of abandoned gold mines there, and decided to look for one which I had first read about several years ago...

Rock_channel
A vertical rock cut runs down the side of the mountain.
A reservoir at the top of the ridge released water down this flume, which washed
the ore to the base of the slope.   This was called "the Dahlonega Method"

A pair of mine adits run into the mountain side.
(Additional tunnels are found above these.)
