Late Summer and Fall wildflowers from several locations
in the Chunky Gal area, including Glade Gap & Riley Cove.


1 - Early August 2024
I made a quick stop by Glade Gap on my way back from a visit to Buck Creek.


Veratrum
Appalachian Bunchflower   (Veratrum parviflorum)

Scarlet Beebalm   (Monarda didyma)
This species was nearing the end of its bloom season.

Mycetinis opacus
A species of agaric fungus, this is a tiny marasmioid
mushroom that grows on twigs and sticks.



2 - Late August, 2024

After another afternoon visit to Buck Creek, I stopped by the lower end of Riley Cove.

At first I wasn't sure what this was, but then realized it was
Wood Betony (Pedicularis canadensis), gone to seed.

This bee was buzzing from one flower to the next.
It was hard to get a shot with the bee in decent focus.
