1 - Early April, 2020 Mostly looking for old home sites, even though none showed on the old maps. Had no luck with that! As it turned out, this would be my only 2020 visit here. |

Hemlock Varnish Shelf (Ganoderma tsugae) |
Hemlock Varnish Shelf These were immature growths. I meant to go back a month later to photograph the red brackets, but then forgot all about it. |

2 - Mid September, 2021 Surprisingly, it was almost a year and a half later before I got back in here. I was looking for early fall wildflowers, but was a little early for some of the species I was hoping to see. Although I did find loads of Red Turtleheads! |
Great Blue Lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica) This species was blooming all over the area. |
Red Turtlehead (Chelone obliqua) I'm not sure what the little white fuzz-balls are at the top of the corolla mouth. |

Chelone obliqua, in habitat... |
These are actually one of two varieties of this species: Chelone obliqua var. erwiniae. |
Other common names for the species are Erwin's Red Turtlehead, and Mountain Turtlehead. |
Pale Yellow Jewelweed (Impatiens pallida) |
