June 25, 2020 I wandered around some new areas, but didn't see many unusual flowers in bloom today, mostly just fungi and mycotrophs... |
Indian Pipes, aka Ghost Flowers (Monotropa uniflora) |
As the fruit capsules mature, the flowers turn upright, in line with the stem |
One of last year's seed pods/stem is still erect in this bunch. |
Growing on wood, the only potential ID I found was Multiclavula sp. |
One of the Coral Fungi, a Clavarioid species... |
I didn't take a close look, but I'm pretty sure this is Chicken of the Woods (Laetiporus sp.) |
One of the shelf-bracket fungi (Ganoderma sp.) |
Scarlet Beebalm (Monarda didyma) |
July 31, 2020 This was one of three places I stopped today. I didn't really find anything exciting here... |
One of the Thaspium species, going to seed... |
White Bergamot, aka Basil Beebalm (Monarda clinopedia) |
Downy Rattlesnake Plantain Orchid (Goodyera pubescens) |
Skullcap (Scutellaria sp.) |
Selfheal, aka Heal-all (Prunella vulgaris) |
