The Georgia Botanical Society held its 2023 Spring Pilgrimage in Hiawassee. I volunteered to lead a field trip, and we visited two locations in Clay County, NC. I didn't take too many photos during this excursion. For images that I took on scouting missions during the month leading up to the trip, including most of the floral subjects that we saw during our walk, see: Chunky Gal Trail - April '23, and Buck Creek Area - April '23. |

Another "typical" Painted Trillium |
We came upon a small group of Southern Nodding Trillium (Trillium rugelii) |
We don't see many T. rugelii around this area. |
Interestingly, each flower in this group of six had a different colored ovary. |

We found one more Painted Trillium among the Nodding Trilliums. |

Elaine took a number of photos of the group with her cell phone camera: |
