A group of my old work mates has an annual pre-Christmas get-together for lunch & drinks in Kennesaw. I hadn't attended since we moved up to the mountains, so I decided to drive down and join them in 2021. I stayed overnight and made plans for the next day on my way home to find and photograph a few sites that have been on my radar for a while. The first two spots I visited were Native American petroglyph sites: 1 - Boling Rock, Cherokee Co., GA |

Stone abutment from an old, long-gone bridge over the creek. |

Bridge abutment on the opposite side. |

On my way to the petroglyph rock, I passed a ledge with a number of cupule holes pecked into it. Some are visible, while others don't show well in this image. |
I also noticed this rock in the river that had a couple of cupule holes. |
The same view, with the polarizer adjusted differently, reveals additional cupules. |

2 - River Hill Petroglyphs, Forsyth Co., GA These three rocks were relocated from their original site when a subdivision was built there. |

Boulder 2. Unlike Boulder 1, the carvings on this rock are very faint, due to centuries of weathering. They are barely visible, even after wetting the rock. |
Boulder 3. Even fainter than Boulder 2, the carving on this rock is barely visible today... |
