I drove over to Chestnut Branch by Buck Creek to revisit my favorite
sedge.   Many species here were a week or more behind their normal
bloom times, so I didn't take as many shots as I had planned to.

Frasers_sedge
Fraser's Sedge   (Carex fraseriana),   my favorite!

Single Fraser's Sedge inflorescence
The male flowers are on top, female flowers in the lower portion.

Hepatica_acutiloba
Sharp-lobed Hepatica   (Hepatica acutiloba)
In my experience, the flowers of H. acutiloba tend to be usually white,
with not as many purple / pink flowers as H. americana.   But I found a
patch of nice deeply colored flowers among the mostly white blooms.

Trout_Lilies
Trout lilies were already bloomed out at home, but just 10 miles
away (and much higher elevation) they were at peak bloom.

Trout_Lily
A single Dimpled Trout Lily   (Erythronium umbilicatum)

Wild_Geranium
Wild Geranium (Geranium maculatum);
leafed out, but no flowers yet.

Bluets
Bluets   (Houstonia sp.)
