1 - Late July, 2024
It seemed like a good day to visit a few of my favorite mid summer wildflower spots in the general Buck Creek - Corundum Knob vicinity.

Southern Mountain Mint (Pycnanthemum pycnanthemoides)

This population has been known as Stenanthium gramineum for as long as I've known, but lately they are being called an undescribed species.

2 - Early August, 2024
I hoped to catch a certain Liatris in bloom, but it was still in bud. So I found a few other subjects...
Yellow / Orange Fringed Orchid (Platanthera ciliaris) The flowers were more open than when I had seen these plants 10 days earlier.
Canada Burnet (Sanguisorba canadensis)
Scarlet Beebalm (Monarda Didyma) They were mostly bloomed out for the year.
This was about the only remaining half-decent patch of Scarlet Beebalm.
I did find another new (to me) population of Platanthera ciliaris.
False Coral Fungus (Sebacina sp.?)
