1 - Bog A ~ First Visit, late August 2019
It was a comfortable late summer day, with the temperature barely hitting 70 degrees! I explored a sphagnum bog in the headwaters of the Nantahala River in Macon Co, NC.

I entered the bog here. Lots of New York Ironweed (Vernonia noveboracensis) is in bloom on right.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a robust population of Nodding Ladies' Tresses growing in the bog.
