This area was originally known as Harnageville, and renamed to Tate in the 1880s when it was developed as a company town for the Georgia Marble Company founded by Samuel Tate. |

Tate Railroad Depot Built in 1916, the Tate Depot served the small community until 1949 when the L&N Railroad discontinued passenger service. This depot was later moved across the road (in 2015) and renovated. |

The Tate House, aka The Pink Palace Built between 1921-1926 of Etowah Pink marble by Col. Sam Tate. Sam died in 1938, and the last of his family left the house in 1955. |

Tate House - rear The house remained unoccupied and neglected until 1974, when Ann Laird purchased it and began a 10-year restoration project. |
