1 - McClure Mill, Macon County, NC
Built in 1897, and named after the McClure family who built, owned, and operated it for decades. This historic landmark was once a vital milling source for the local community. During WWII, with many of the mill's workers overseas, the decision was made to decommission the mill's machinery in order to donate the materials and contribute to the war effort.

Since that time, it has been converted into a multi-unit cabin rental.

2 - Queen Mill, Rabun County, GA
This reproduction grist mill, called the Queen Mill, sits hidden along Stekoa Creek below Mountain City. It was constructed 40+ years ago by John Welch. I haven't been able to find any info about whether there was originally a mill at this location.

Queen Mill The wide water wheel came from an old mill in Virginia.

There is a small gate built into the mill dam. When a door is slid into the gate, the water level behind the dam rises and begins to flow down the penstock, turning the water wheel. The penstock is currently detached near the upper end due to a tree falling on it.
