Possible collapsed chimney, above the branch With all the exploring I have done in the overall Swallow Creek - Tray Mtn area, looking for homesites that show on the old maps, I have yet to find a single decent chimney or even a chimney fireplace.

Sheldon knew about the remains of an old log cabin, once the home of Elijah Gilbert. The cabin was standing when the USFS purchased the land in 1939. Sheldon had photographed the cabin in 1994, when the log walls were considerably higher.

This was the old home place of Ed Dyer, known as "Little Ed" because there was another Ed Dyer in the area..

Although the chimney appears to be very old, the former house hadn't been fallen in for that long.
