February 2022 Old Homesite WH07 - White Co., GA
Another homesite that, unlike most of my chimney explorations, didn't require much of a walk to reach.
A lovely intact rock chimney, with double back-to-back fireplaces.
Fireplace, side A.
Opposite side of the chimney.

Fireplace in side B.

Old Homesite WH08 - White Co., GA
Just a few miles from the previous site stood another chimney, just off the road. I would guess that this one still had its building standing not 30 years ago.
Another double hearthed chimney, with back-to-back fireplaces.
Fireplace of side A
Other side of the chimney..

Fireplace of side B

Front steps for the long-gone house. Based on the melted glass, I'd guess that this home burned at some point.

February 2022 Sheldon and I boated around Lake Nottely, exploring a few old homesites:
Old Homesite UN24 - Off Ivylog Creek, Union Co., GA
Remains of the old chimney
Chimney remains, from another angle

Old Homesite UN25 - near Davenport Mtn, Union Co., GA
There wasn't much left of the chimney here... Sheldon said that this was one of the old Davenport family homesites.
There were a number of rock-lined terraces visible here.
The old well, now mostly filled in...
Old Homesite UN26 - also near Davenport Mtn, Union Co., GA
This homesite had a number of well-built terraces.
Most of the terrace faces were still lined with stone.
This may have been the home's door stoop. Sheldon thinks this may have been another Davenport family home.
The rock foundations outline the shape of the old home. The collapsed chimney is at the rear.
Two of the old logs haven't quite rotted away in the corner of the old dwelling.

The collapsed chimney.
