Swamp Pink (Helonias bullata) |

Red Salamander (Pseudotriton ruber) I burned a pile of briars that I had cleared last year. I didn't like where the pile was setting, so I moved it about twenty feet before burning it. It was a good thing, or this little fella would probably have been burned to a crisp. |
Mazus miquelii One of several "toe-tickler" ground covers that Elaine got a couple of years ago to fill in some bare spots. |
Promethea Silkmoth (Callosamia promethea) Not the greatest pic; I spotted this on our mini- greenhouse when I went out to get something. |

First Gladiolus bloom of the year |
This was our best year ever for figs Unfortunately the -4 degree F temps at Christmas killed the tree to the ground. |
Purple Passion-flower, aka May-pop (Passiflora incarnata) |
Gladiolus dalenii An old-time heirloom variety. |

Spotted Beebalm (Monarda punctata) |
Got this plant from my friend Eric. It has spread in the years since I took these pics. |
Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix) Found this critter right up against our foundation, not twenty feet from where I got bitten last year. Same time of evening, right about sunset. Could be the same one, for all I know. |
We have a number of glass pieces made by our (late) friend Mary Zoller Lightner. We've had a large one hanging in a sun room window for a few years. I got this one over a year ago, and finally got around to hanging it in a window. It goes perfectly with the outside trees this time of year. |
