Union County, GA - Late May, 2023

Small Spreading Pogonia (Cleistesiopsis bifaria) is rare in Georgia, with just a handful of recorded occurrences.   I have been visiting this site for the past several years.   We saw 30-40 flowering plants in 2022, but only about a dozen this year.   But that's orchids for you, they can be finicky from year to year.

The flower colors range from white to pink,
but there weren't many pinks this year.

I like Loosestrifes.
This may be my second favorite Loosestrife after Bog Candles (Lysimachia terrestris).

A lot of this Loosestrife was growing with the Pogonias.
