Union County, GA - Late May, 2023 Small Spreading Pogonia (Cleistesiopsis bifaria) is rare in Georgia, with just a handful of recorded occurrences. I have been visiting this site for the past several years. We saw 30-40 flowering plants in 2022, but only about a dozen this year. But that's orchids for you, they can be finicky from year to year. |

The flower colors range from white to pink, but there weren't many pinks this year. |

Whorled Loosestrife (Lysimachia quadrifolia) |
|
I like Loosestrifes. This may be my second favorite Loosestrife after Bog Candles (Lysimachia terrestris). |

A lot of this Loosestrife was growing with the Pogonias. |
